You can use all sorts of beads but we like to use sparkling facetted glass beads to catch the light. A variety of shapes and sizes of beads creates a very pretty snowflake effect. The wire forms come in 3 sizes and a variety of wire form sizes and different beads makes a very pretty display.
Small Snowflake Decorations
What could be more festive than this delicate snowflake in crystal and crystal AB colours?
To make this small snowflake you will need:
- 6 4x6mm crystal puffy rondelles
- 12 6mm Czech crystal bicones
- 18 4mm Czech crystal bicones
- 24 3mm Czech fire-polished beads
- 1 3.75 inch snowflake wire form
Instructions:
Thread a 4mm crystal bicone on a spike
Add a 3mm fire-polished bead followed by a 6mm crystal bicone
Add another 3mm fire-polished bead and then a 4mm crystal bicone
Then add a crystal puffy rondelle
Add a 4mm crystal bicone followed by a 3mm fire-polished bead
Then turn a loop at the end of the spike to secure the beads in place
Repeat for the other 5 spikes to complete your snowflake ornament
Medium Snowflake Decorations
Gold is always a popular choice for traditional festive decorations.
To make this medium snowflake you will need:
- 6 7x10mm crystal puffy rondelles
- 12 4x6mm crystal puffy rondelles
- 12 6mm Czech crystal bicones
- 18 4x3mm Czech pinch beads
- 1 4.5″ snowflake ornament wire form
Instructions:
Thread a crystal bicone onto a spike
Add 2 pinch beads
Add a crystal bicone, small crystal puffy rondelle and another crystal bicone
Then add a large crystal puffy rondelle
Add another pinch bead and finish with another small crystal puffy rondelle
Finish as for the small snowflake
Large Snowflake Decorations
This large snowflake used siam ruby beads and also looks gorgeous in gold and silver.
You will need:
- 6 12mm Czech fire-polished beads (colour 1)
- 6 8mm Czech fire-polished beads (colour 1)
- 6 6mm Czech fire-polished beads (colour 1)
- 6 8mm Czech fire-polished beads (colour 2)
- 6 6mm Czech fire-polished beads (colour 2)
- 42 6/0 Czech seed beads
- 1 6 inch snowflake ornament wire form
Instructions:
Thread 2 6/0 seed beads onto a spike
Add a 6mm colour 1 fire-polished bead and another seed bead
Add an 8mm colour 2 fire-polished bead and a seed bead
Then add a 12mm colour 1 fire-polished bead and a seed bead
Finally, add an 8mm colour 2 fire-polished bead and a seed bead
Finish as before
