Making tiaras and headbands using the traditional tiara band can be quick and easy. Tiara bands are not just for weddings! These fashion accessories are easy to adapt so they are suitable for a variety of events. Our projects will show you several techniques and some versatile beads that you can experiment with to create your own designs.

This project from Preciosa Crystal simply uses their 4mm no hotfix flatbacks to decorate a plain tiara band. Just choose a different selection of colours to add sparkle to any event, We would recommend Appli Glue for attaching the flatbacks to the tiara band. It’s easy to use but you can find a guide to using appli glue on our website.
Wiring beads is another traditional technique. The Rose Wreath design below by Preciosa Ornela uses fine copper jewellery wire to attach 8mm 2-hole candy beads and 10/0 seed beads to the band. These candy beads are an ideal shape for gluing and have a pretty rose laser design printed on them. They come in lots of lovely colours – try crystal AB or alabaster lustre beads for a more traditional look.
Les Perles par Puca offer you a different take with this very pretty headband featuring the Amos and Arcos par Puca beads edged with tiny seed beads. These are sewn into a long strip which is then simply glued onto the tiara band.
Finally, the Preciosa Floral Fascinator project will show you how to embellish ready-made fabric flowers with small fire-polished beads and seed beads. It can then be attached to your tiara band to make a lovely fashion accessory.
