Bauble Net
If you haven’t created a bauble net before, this easy design is a good startaiang point. The net is made with Preciosa 10/0 seed beads and 2-hole 2.5x5mm twin beads which are used to join the separate seed bead strands. Two “nets” are created which are placed over the bauble and the two nets are then joined to enclose it.
Lacy Seed Bead Christmas Ornament
This seed bead decoration also uses twin seed beads, together with 10/0 and 7/0 round seed beads to create a lace effect. The decoration is made up of 6 pieces of two types of lacy decoration. The strips are first created individually and then joined together to enclose the bauble. The strips are connected together using seed bead rings. You can adjust the number of round seed beads to fit the size of the bauble.
Snow Queen Bauble
This gorgeous design was created for Preciosa by Julie Ashford of Spellbound Beads. This also used the very useful twin seed beads, together with round seed beads and sparkling fire-polished beads. You will also need a 60mm glass bauble. The step-by-step design will show you how to create the beautiful seed bead lace in separate stages. First you will need to make 6 large snowflake motifs. Then you can create the 3 long and the 3 short strands to attach to the snowflakes. Finally, you will create the neck of the design and the hanging loop so that the finished piece can be draped over the bauble.
Colourful Christmas Bauble
Finally, Preciosa’s latest bauble design is this beautiful geometric seed bead design. This is created entirely with 10/0 seed beads using a crochet technique. You will need a ping pong ball or 3.5 – 4mm polystyrene ball for the base. The project will take you through each stage with a colour-coded pattern to follow to create the design. The shaped strip is formed around the ball. Once you have mastered the technique, you can create your own colour-coded designs.
You can also use this technique to make seed beads casings for other shapes such as the star and bell below.
